Small airport that has mainly domestic flights but some from Asia, NZ & the Pacific as well. There is an Airport Connect bus which links to the nearest public bus stop for $6. From there you can get a bus into Cairns proper for $2.20. Otherwise uber or the shuttle provided by Sun Palm for $15 are the best options.
Attractions
There are some nice beaches in the suburbs north of Cairns. Machans Beach is a beautiful quiet beach with a nice restaurant and great vibe in the area. Holloway's Beach is a beautiful palm lined beach great for a BBQ. Toilets and showers here if you want to camp and there is a market every 2nd Sunday.
