Kings Cross and Surry Hills

Info
Intro

The Cross was Sydney's legendary redlight and party district. In the past few years it has lost its glory but its still popular with backpackers and retains some signs of life. Surry Hills is an upmarket hipster district with some good bars and places to eat. Darlinghurst is Sydney's gay heartland. Between the 3 suburbs are lots of good bars and a few colourful characters.

Girls

This is the main nightlife district for Sydney. Girls from all over town flock here on the weekend. The main streets are packed and there are plenty of girls to talk to during the day. A lot of backpackers choose to stay around here particularly in Kings Cross. Despite the Lockout laws affecting the area it is still a good place to party. Check out The Soda Factory on quiet nights. ... ... ...

Beaches
Red Leaf Beach

Great ocean pool surrounded by a pontoon. Good place to swim. Or get some sun on the small beach or in the surrounding park.

Lady Martins Beach

Tiny strip of sand. Nice place to sunbathe and very quiet during the week.

Nightlife
Kings Cross

This is the red-light district and the main nightlife district in Sydney but both industries have slowed down. Still plenty of good times to be had here.

Candys Apartment

Open Friday and Saturday this place brings in a very young crowd. Can be good fun if you are in the mood.

World Bar

Always a good vibe. This bar is what the Kings Cross party scene is all about now. Drinks are expensive but the teapots are worth trying. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday bring in lots of pretty girls. The crowd here is very young. Bouncers here are over the top and you may have to pay $20 cover on busy nights.

Kings Cross Hotel

Huge bar over multiple levels. It is only busy on the weekends but great place to meet girls when it is busy.

Potts Point Hotel

Great pub with good food and a rooftop bar. Lots of live music and a nightclub on one floor called Boogie Mountain which is a great spot on the weekend.

Club 77

This is the only place in town to party all night. They close at 3am but open again at 5am. Kill a few hours in between or party somewhere else and head over here afterwards. Great music and a friendly crowd. A lot of gay people here especially on Sunday.

Old Fitzroy Hotel

Nice old pub next to a theatre that puts on plays. Check out a play or just stop in for a beer. Friendly and interesting crowd.

Burdekin

Bars on multiple levels. This place is usually quiet but on the weekend it is a real party in here. Expect to pay $15 to $25 and see some great DJs here.

The Standard

Really cool bar. They have a bowling alley inside as well as pool tables and a few other games to keep you busy and help break the ice. There is a long line to get in on the weekend.

The Beresford Hotel

Big bar with a great beer garden and dance floor upstairs. Lots of girls here and generally a friendly crowd. There is a sporadically enforced dress code so you may not get in without a collared shirt. Expensive drinks.

Soda Factory

Great bar with something going on every night. Movies on Monday night. Cheap food on Tuesday & Wednesday. 80s/90s music on the weekend that brings in a very big (and young) crowd.

Clock Hotel

Big bar that is busy all week round.

Venue 505

Cool jazz bar tucked away in Surry Hills. Check the schedule here (venue505.com).
