Calm beach in the middle of town and a good jetty and breakwater to fish off.
Diggers Beach
Wide and sheltered beach. Great beginner surf spot. You can walk along the headland to the south. Lots of shady parking here and BBQs so you can park overnight and surf first thing in the morning.
Woolgoolga Beach
Beautiful long beach and the breaks at the southern end are great for beginners. At the northern end there are waves for more experienced surfers. There are good markets here on the second Saturday of the month. The headland at the northern side has great views.
Park Beach
The most popular beach in town. The beach is patrolled. On weekends in summer expect to see plenty of bikinis.
Sawtell
Gorgeous beach just south of Coffs Harbour. A swim in the rockpool on the southern end is recommended. The surf is consistent here and there is a good vibe in general. Good surf club for a beer or coffee. The rockpool here is really nice.
Bongil Beach
Cross the shallow water of Bonville Creek estuary at the southern end of Sawtell Beach to get to this gorgeous beach in Bongil Bongil National Park. You can surf, swim and sunbathe here. If you drive in from further down the coast you can camp on the beach.
Walk along the Marina to this island and view nesting sites for the Wedge-tailed Shearwaters. The nesting site is seasonal (summer). On the far side of the island there is a great view out to sea.
Jetty Dive
Good dive shop. Dive the Marine Park off the coast. A day trip to the Solitary Islands with two dives is $99, gear hire is $30
Solitary Islands Coastal Walk
4 day walk from Sawtell to Red Rock. The walk is broken up at four points Coffs Jetty, Sawtell Headland, Emerald Beach Headland and Woolgoolga Headland. Very accessible multi day walk.
