Gold Coast


Gold Coast is like the Miami of Australia. Much like Miami it has great beaches, lots of parties, plenty of girls and plenty of pretentious people. The beaches go on forever with an impressive skyline in the background. There is a lot to do here away from the beach. If you can deal with the vbe then you will enjoy yourself.


Famous for thousands of beautiful bikini girls all along the endless beach. Because there are so many tourists here you will meet girls from America, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland and all over the world. The beach and Cavill Mall are the best place to meet girls here as well as the party hostels (which is most hostels in Surfers Paradise). The nightlife draws in pretty girl ... ... ... ... ...


Gold Coast shares Brisbane's network and ticketing system. There are buses and a tram that service the area pretty well. The railway is a fair distance inland but links to the tram at Helensvale.


Coolangatta Airport is a very good airport to fly in to. Most flights here are domestic but international flights come from NZ & some major Asian airports. The airport is serviced by public buses 777 express to Broadbeach where you can link up with the Gold Coast Tram & 760 to Robina which links to the Varsity Lakes railway station. $10 public transport day passe ... ... ... ... ...

Surfers Paradise Beach

The beach at surfers is beautiful and goes on forever. It's not the best place for swimming or surfing. Lots of bikinis on the beach and along the boardwalk. It's a good place for a BBQ.

The Spit

Great spot for surfing or lying on the beach at the end of Seaworld Dr. There is a cafe here with good coffee and ice creams. You can paddle or kayak across to South Stradbroke Island to surf and hang out on the secluded beach. Don't try to swim this stretch of water. Nice view of the Gold Coast skyline.


A few kms to the south of Surfers. Its actually the same stretch of beach. Bit quieter down here.

Burleigh Heads

Probably the nicest beach in the area. Beautiful spot with the National Park in the background and a park in front with plenty of BBQs. Great surf here. Good place to party and hang out on Sunday afternoon in Justin Park.

Tallebudgera Creek

Quiet little spot to swim. You can access it from Burleigh Head National Park or Tallebudgera Creek Park on the other side. Just off the Gold Coast Highway.

Palm Beach

Quiet beach with a great vibe. Nice place for sunset and sunrise.

Currumbin Beach

Still feels like a small coastal town. Beautiful beach with the creek meeting the sea here and rainforest in the background. Good spot for paddleboarders.

Broadwater Foreshore

Nice park and harbour beach. Good place to chill out or have a BBQ.


You will most likely be approached on the street about a bar tour. There are 3 companies that offer these tours. Surfers Paradise Beergarden

Cheap beer brings an array of Gold Coast weirdos to this place. Nice balcony to drink and watch people walk by on the mall.

Melbas on the Park

Big bar. Huge dancefloor upstairs to party and a quieter bar downstairs.

Shooters Lounge

Huge nightclub, probably the biggest on the Gold Coast. Gets packed here.

Cocktails Nightclub

This is another big GC style nightclub. Big place with big crowds and lots of pretty girls.


Cool bar that is a little harder to get into than other places in Gold Coast. Often a line outside but it is one of the best places in town on a busy night.

Sin City

Real Gold Coast style bar with top 40 music, pretty girls and lingerie bartenders.


Hip hop club open on the weekend.

The Bedroom

Similar to Underground. If you get tired of clubbing here you can lie down in one of their beds for a little power nap.

The Avenue

Big nightclub. They have live music here as well as DJs playing commercial house and top 40 songs.


Big bar with a young crowd in Broadbeach. Expect to be listening to commercial house.

Jupiters Casino

The casino is open late and is often busy at night.

Burleigh Brewing Company

Great brewery open on Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 8.30pm, and Sunday 2pm to 6pm.

Burleigh Head National Park

Has a few great short walks as well as Tumgun Lookout which provides a stunning view of the area. You can walk out to Echo Beach and swim in Tallebudgera Creek.

The Village Markets

At Burleigh Heads State School on the first and third Sundays of the month. Great market with food and music and plenty of babes.

Skypoint Observation Deck

$15 for the observation deck and $75 to climb up the spire at the top of the building.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Expensive wildlife park with a lot to see.

David Fleay Wildlife Park

Much smaller & less crowded than Currumbin.

Wet n Wild

Big water park with a wave pool and lots of slides.

Movie World

This theme park has lots of rides based around blockbuster movies.


Big theme park with plenty of rollercoasters etc. Can be very busy.

WhiteWater World

Big waterpark with lots of slides.


All you can eat vegan buffet for $14.90.

Surfers Paradise RSL Club

$6.50 for a roast meal here and cheap beer. Other food is cheap as well. Right near the main strip and there is a good view from the deck. Staff are rude but otherwise this place is perfect.

Kawaii Curry

Nice, cheap Japanese curry place in this small shopping mall.

Apres Surf

Ideal place for a big feed and a beer after a day of surfing. Good specials most days of the week including $5 cheeseburgers on Monday.

Wahoos Tacos

Great Tacos here. 3 for $10. They also have good burgers, wings & chips.

Cafe 4 U

Good coffee and all day $8 breakfast. Nice view over the Broadwater.

Pop Pad Thai

Really nice Thai food. Lunch here is $9.90.

Doug Jennings Park

Beautiful spot by the beach. Quiet and plenty of space. BBQs here and a small shop/cafe.

Main Beach Carpark

Across the road from Seaworld. Has plenty of space and is right by the beach. Not much shade but nearby Phillip Park has showers.

Budds In Surfers

Great location. They organise nights out. Has a swimming pool, free breakfast and job assistance.

Sleeping Inn Backpackers

Clean hostel with free nightly club entry, dive in movie nights, luggage storage and bodyboard hire.

Backpackers in Paradise

A short walk from the beach on the backpacker street. There is a pool, a bar and nightclub entry.

Gold Coast Backpackers

Good location. They have a BBQ and bar.

Surfers Paradise YHA

Beautiful spot with the beach on one side and the Broadwater on the other. Social atmosphere with nightly activities.

Bunk Surfers Paradise

Near the beach this place has a hot tub and swimming pool.
