Kirra Beach

A long beach famous for right handers. Quieter than other beaches around Coolangatta. This is a great place to get waves without too much competition. Plenty of space for lying on the beach and a nice park here with BBQs etc.

Coolangatta Beach

A busy beach with a surf club at each end. The northern end of the beach has incredible surf.

Greenmount Beach

At the southern end of the beach is a calm spot for swimming. Around the headland here there is a great point break in the right conditions.

Rainbow Bay

Popular little beach which is the best place to access the world famous Snapper Rocks surf break. This is one of the best breaks in the country and hosts big surf comps. Very crowded when the surf is pumping and locals can be aggressive.

Froggy Bay

Beautiful beach that feels secluded and can be very quiet even when the other beaches are busy. Great place to hang out, swim or surf.

D’Bah as the locals call it. You are almost guaranteed great waves here although this usually means big crowds. This is a famous Gold Coast break and with good reason. For experienced surfers.

Coolangatta Hotel

Big busy bar across the road from the beach. They often have live bands here.

Rainbow Bay SLSC

Great spot for a beer overlooking the ocean. They have good food too.

Walkin on Water Surf School

Great surf school

Coolangatta Learn to Surf

Look out for their truck in Rainbow Bay and Greenmount.

Jays Food Emporium

Great coffee and $5 bacon and eggs. About the cheapest breakfast you can find in Australia and it is delicious.

Coolangatta Sands Backpackers

Well equipped backpackers in the heart of Coolangatta with everything you need.

Coolangatta YHA

Clean hostel with a good vibe right next to the airport and close to Kirra Beach. Free bus into town. Nice swimming pool and BBQ as well as bike and surfboard hire.
