T-ville. God’s country. Not a popular tourist spot. It is seen as more of a stopover. Particularly for people who are going to Magnetic Island. It is a good place to spend a few days and dive the wreck of the Yongala.

Australian Hotel

Classic Aussie pub where you can meet the locals.

Commonwealth Hotel

Cheap drinks and a great crowd here. Live bands on the weekends.

The Heritage Exchange Bar

Fancy for Townsville. A bit expensive but there is some talent here.

The Ville

Casino and a few bars. It is the only place open after 3am.

Molly Malones Irish Pub

A good Irish pub. There is another one across the road.

Flynns Irish Pub

Good bands play here and the beer garden is great. Otherwise it is the same as other Irish pubs in town.

Sea View Hotel

Known as a cougar bar.

Castle Hill

Lots of trails up to the top of this hill in the middle of Townsville. The most commonly walked is the Goat track starting on Hillside Cres. Another popular route is the Cudtheringa Track off Castle Hill Rd. You can also drive to the top for the spectacular view.

The Strand Beach

Nice beach and Esplanade in town. There is a swimming lagoon at the northern end.

Yongala Wreck

This is one of the best dives in the country. A wreck halfway between the mainland and the reef that is a magnet for fish.

Adrenalin Dive

2 day trips to dive the Yongala. Dive courses.

Remote Area Dive

Daytrips to Yongala, Pelorus and Orpheus Island.

1300 Smiles Stadium

If you have the chance to catch a Cowboys game here it is a great atmosphere.

Chunky Pies

Best pies in town.

Civic Guest House Backpackers Hostel

Friendly hostel with everything you need.

Reef Lodge

Centrally located and they have a games room and a little gym here.

Orchid Guest House

Nice quiet spot with decent prices.
